Man, what a rough night. I need to eat better or something before I start drinking and stop using the computer (I had to delete the last post [man, I'm such a whiny bitch.]) after I start. Anyway, for only having 6 beers over a span of like 4 hours, I sure have an awful hangover. So I figured I’d hang around the house today and do some much needed cleaning to punish myself for being stupid last night. Looks like my coffee is done so I better get to work.
You know, non open source software really sucks. So I’m try to do some legitmate research for my PhD today (theremal modeling if you must know) and I’d much rather do it at home where it is nice and comfortable. So I managed to get a copy of I-DEAS via a friend of a friend and the whole thing did nothing but piss me off. All of the FlexLM liciencing crap that never works (even when cracked). So instead I had to got to the graduate student lab and work there. Not only was it hot as hell, but the company wasn’t that great either.
If this software would have been open source, I wouldn’t have this problem. Sure it wouldn’t have compiled for the first hour, but after downloading and installing about 200 megs of libraries, it would installed and ran fine - at home. Oh well.
After putting in a full day (for a change) at school and doing some RF filter design, work continued on the house at about 4. Its now 7:30 and I’m sweating like a dog sitting here writing this. I really think I should have gotten that dumpster. It would have been here (and about half full) today. All of this demolition crap is heavy. Today’s job was to cleanup from yesterday’s destruction of a wall and maybe take down another wall. I decided to optimize and only clean once so I grabbed the sawsall and went to town. See Day 12 for all the pictures.
Several days ago I discovered a second stairway in the house. A quick couple of chops with my trusty ax and wouldn’t you know it, another day’s worth of work discovered. I figured though, this will be a good investment time wise since if the place ever goes up in flames, there is more then one way to get out. Read all about Day 10
So today is the big day . . . I now own 315 Reservation Street in Hancock MI. Its funny, I didn’t realize that today was Friday the 13th until I was sitting in the office of loan officer making sure everything would go through slicker then snot. And it did too. As it well should since I spent the morning tearing around town in my semi broken car lighting fires under everyone’s ass.
The house is a bit of a mess though . . . actually its squalid hell hole. Or should I say was. The first thing I did was mow the friggen lawn. The grass was nearly up to my knees. See House Day 1 After that, I took to the inside to attempt to subdue the rancid cat and cigarette smoke smell.
Well, here begins my Blog . . . don’t really know what to say on the first post, so I’ll just bring you up to speed on what is going on . . .
Tomorrow I’m set to close on the house (take two). Hopefully this works out better then last time, which shouldn’t be that difficult. After tomorrow, my life will offically end as I know it and I’ll be devoting an obscene amount of time into fixing the place up. So now is the time to enjoy my freedom rather then sit at a computer . . .
